CLASS INFORMATION
GENERAL CLASS
The work covered in class includes prose reading, poetry recitations, public speaking, plays, improvisation, mime as well as techniques to improve vocal development. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Eisteddfods, plays, public speaking and theatre sports competitions.
Eisteddfods are held locally in terms 2 and 3. These are held at Parramatta and Ryde. These give students an opportunity to perform the work they have been learning in class in front of an audience. Prizes are awarded and all competitors receive a written report from the adjudicator.
Entry forms are sent home when students are ready to compete. Participation is optional.
Annual Play and Prize Presentation will be held late November / early December - 2024 details coming soon.
Class Requirements:
1 x exercise book
1 x A4 folder with plastic sheets
1 x Glue Stick (with name labelled)
For all exam work - set novel is required.
Higher Grades also require copy of set play.
COSTUME HIRE
The CYDS has a costume hire services where students may hire costumes for plays and Eisteddfods.
FEES
Fee schedule will be posted out to students before commencement of classes in 2022.
Fees are due the first week of each term.
There are four terms during the year (no classes during school holidays).
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
CYDS values young people and children as being a vital part of the CYDS and desires to see them grow, mature and be challenged in a healthy and safe environment. CYDS is committed to ensuring safe environments for children and young people. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by a commitment to best practice procedures which protects them.
The primary consideration in planning any activity for children will be the overriding importance of ensuring that it contributes to their well-being and does not expose them to harm, including the risk of injury, physical or emotional abuse.
This policy applies to our paid staff, volunteers, students or anyone working on behalf of CYDS.
ARRIVING FOR YOUR CLASS & PARKING
Please do not arrive before your class time.
Parking is only allowed on the studio side of Arkana Street when dropping off and picking up students.
Please be considerate of our neighbours and enter the street quietly and do not park across any driveways.
Parents are asked to leave the area as soon as their classes are completed to allow the next class to park outside the studio. Your co-operation in this matter is essential.
Remember to treat Arkana Street as a 40kph zone.
WITHDRAWAL
Please note if a student wishes to withdraw enrolment, a minimum three weeks notice is necessary before the completion of term to avoid further charges.
MISSED CLASSES
Students missing a class due to illness can arrange a make-up class by emailing jancreer@bigpond.com or by phoning 0408 860 917 (the best time to ring is between 9am and 10am)
